How to check whether internet can be connected at your address in Kazakhstan: a step-by-step guide
Where and how to check home internet availability with Kazakhtelecom, Beeline, almaPLUS, Transtelecom and Meganet, what the provider's answer means, and what to do when there is no fibre at your address.
You can pick a home internet plan in five minutes, but you can only connect it where the provider has a cable. That check is called an "availability check", and without it any price comparison stays theoretical. Here is how to run it with each major provider and how to read the result.
Why the provider asks for an address at all
Wired internet is tied to infrastructure: fibre has to reach the specific building, there must be a free port on the equipment in the stairwell, and in the private sector there must be a pole or duct for the cable. The same plan can therefore be available next door and not at your place. No catalogue replaces this check: the final answer comes from a check of the exact address.
What to prepare
- The exact address: city, street, building number and apartment number (in apartment blocks ports are counted per flat).
- The type of home — apartment or private house: providers often have separate plans and connection terms for the private sector.
- Details of your current provider, if any: sometimes a cable is already in place and a new connection costs less.
How to check with each provider
Kazakhtelecom
On telecom.kz, the "Internet" section has an availability check. Enter your city and address and the service shows whether fibre (FTTH) is available or only ADSL over the phone line. The same check is available in the operator's mobile app. Note that ADSL prices depend on the settlement and speed depends on the condition of the copper line.
Beeline
The "Internet at home" page on beeline.kz has an address check form. For the same plan Beeline may connect a building over FTTB (up to 100 Mbit/s) or GPON (up to 300 Mbit/s); the check tells you which technology applies to you.
almaPLUS
On alma.plus, first pick your city in the site header — the plan list and prices depend on the region. Then submit a connection request with your address and building type (apartment or house). almaPLUS has a separate plan line for the private sector with its own connection terms.
Transtelecom
The consumer section of ttc.kz has a "Check availability" button. The provider works over ADSL, FTTB and GPON, so the result determines not only availability but also the price grid: plans of 200 Mbit/s and above are sold only where GPON is in place.
Meganet
meganet.kz shows a map of connected districts in Almaty and Shymkent and a "Check availability" form. Apartments get the Qadam plans, available only inside the map's "green zone"; private houses get a separate line with aerial cabling.
Freedom Telecom and activ Home
With these providers the check happens when you submit a request on the site or through an agent. activ Home runs on a partner's fibre network and connects only after an address check.
How to read the answer
| Provider's answer | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| "GPON / FTTH available" | Fibre reaches the apartment or house — take whatever speed you need |
| "FTTB available" | The building is on fibre but the inside wiring is copper; the realistic ceiling is usually 100 Mbit/s |
| "ADSL only" | No fibre; the phone line works, and speed depends heavily on the distance to the exchange |
| "No technical availability" | No cable; leave a request for future connection or pick a wireless option |
What to do when nothing is available
- Check other providers. Networks do not overlap completely: where one operator is missing, another is often present.
- Leave a request to connect the building. Providers expand by demand — the more requests from one building, the higher its priority.
- Consider internet through a 4G/5G router. It is a separate class of plans with no cable: a SIM card in a router shares Wi-Fi across the whole home. Compare those offers in our router internet catalogue.
Bottom line
The address check is the first step, not a formality: it decides the technology, the speed and the price. First learn what two or three providers can offer at your address, then compare plans among the real options — for example in the Tandap home internet catalogue, where offers can be filtered by technology, speed and property type.
